M.C. London Gazette 16 September 1918. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Finding the flanks of his battalion had gone, he organised a defensive flank with his battery under heavy shell and machine gun fire. He did splendid work’.

Lieutenant Henry Hans L’Estrange, 9th Battalion Royal Sussex Regiment served in France/Flanders from 16 June 1916 to 11 November 1918. Employed with the Trench Mortar Battery from 20 March 1918; promoted to Captain on 16 April 1918.
