Arthur Craft Bowdidge was born in Wandsworth, London, in 1882 and attested for the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry under the alias George Green at Stratford, Essex. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 December 1914, and was killed in action during the action at St. Eloi on 14 March 1915. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
