The Sheffield Union Choir, under its musical director Henry Coward, gave 16 concerts on its first visit to Canada and the US in 1908; this was followed in 1911 by an ambitious six-month world tour, covering 34,000 miles and giving 134 concerts in Canada, US, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania and South Africa
