John Beaconsfield Harden was born on 19 April 1928, and educated at Malvern College. He was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the 13/18th Hussars on 24 February 1951, and was accidentally killed whilst on active service in Malay on 6 September 1951, aged 23. He was the younger son of Mr F. L. Harden, of Shoreham-by-Sea, Sussex, and is buried in Seremban Christian Cemetery, Negri Sembilan, Malaya.
