Able Seaman Harry Millis, R.N., H.M.S. Dreadnought, effected a successful rescue in Argostoli Bay, Kefalonia, Ionian Islands, on 12 October 1887. ‘Two torpedo boats collided and one of them sank. Bristow formed one of the crew and would in all probability have been drowned, as he was partially stunned by the shock of the collision. Millis was clinging to the upset boat, but went to Bristow’s assistance and kept him afloat until picked up by the dinghy’. (Ref. R.H.S. Case 23,805).

Sold with recipient’s identity disk on wrist chain, inscribed, ‘H. Millis, 118508, P.O., C.O.E.’, and with two parchment Certificates of Service, showing service between 1882 and 1919. With other copied research and photographs.
