A.F.C. London Gazette 2 November 1918 ‘Captain Humphrey Leggat Everitt’, ‘.... in recognition of valuable flying services performed in their various capacities - Flying Instructors, Test, Ferry, and Experimental Pilots, etc., etc.’
Sold with R.N.A.S. Slip certifying that Probationary Flight Sub-Lieutenant Humphrey Leggat Everitt had graduated as an Aeroplane Pilot at the R.N.A.S. Training Establishment at Hanwell, dated August 1916; Slip certifying that Flight Sub-Lieutenant 7 Acting Flight Lieutenant Everitt served at R.N.A.S.T/E. Cranwell, 4 September 1916-10 January 1917 - these contained in glazed frame; Commission Document, appointing Humphrey Leggat Everitt, A.F.C., a Captain in the R.A.F., dated 1 April 1918. Humphrey Leggat Everitt was born in Norfolk on 15 November 1892. Prior to service, he worked as an Assistant Superintendent on a tea and rubber plantation in Ceylon. He joined the R.N.A.S. in 1916 and thence the R.A.F. on its formation. Flew with 244 Squadron on anti-submarine patrols. Was awarded the A.F.C. in January 1918.
