Gunner William Hubert Turner, Royal Field Artillery entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 25 August 1915. He was killed in action on 13 November 1940, aged 44 years, when serving as Third Mate on the S.S. Cape St. Andrew. The ship was torpedoed by submarine 75 miles off Ireland. His name is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial.
