Five: Lieutenant S. H. R. Harris, Tank Corps, late Machine Gun Corps and 19th Hussars

1914-15 Star (14069 Pte., 19-Hrs.); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut.); Special Constabulary Long Service, G.VI.R., 1st issue (Stanley H. R. Harris); Defence, mounted as worn; together with a 2nd Battalion Machine Gun Corps Medal, 39mm., bronze, unnamed in case of issue, group generally very fine, last extremely fine (6) £160-200

Stanley Harold Riseman Harris was born in Hull and attended Hull Grammar School. An Iron and Steel Merchant and French Interpreter by occupation, he attested for service in the Army on 8 August 1914. Posted to the 19th Hussars, he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 January 1915. With them he was wounded on 28 January 1916. Latterly attached to the 9th Machine Gun Squadron, he was discharged to a commission in the Machine Gun Corps on 24 January 1917. Later, as a Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion Tank Corps, he was wounded in action on 8 August 1918, receiving gunshot wounds to the head and elbow. He was invalided to England to receive treatment.
