Isaac Newton was born in Dundee and enlisted there for unlimited service on 21 April 1841, aged 18. He landed in Bengal for service with the 2nd European Regiment on 15 January 1842, and served with them throughout the Punjab campaign of 1848-49, and in the Second Burma War of 1851-52. He was discharged with ‘broken wrists’ on 18 July 1857, and returned to England on board the Marlborough. He did not qualify for the Indian Mutiny medal. Sold with detailed research.
