John Lamble Wolfe, who was born in Plymouth in October 1842, entered the Royal Navy in October 1870. Appointed a Boatman in the Coast Guard in January 1873, he remained similarly employed for the rest of his career, being advanced to Chief Officer in July 1884. His final postings were at Calshot Castle and at Newhaven and he was pensioned in October 1897.
