Ralph C. Browne was appointed Chaplain 4th Class on 9 August 1862; 3rd Class, August 1872; 2nd Class, August 1877; 1st Class, ranking as Colonel, August 1882. He served in the Ashantee war of 1873-74 under Sir Garnet Wolseley (Medal), and retired in 1894.
