Indar Singh was killed in action on 18 February 1945, while serving as a Havildar in the 1st Battalion, 11th Sikh Regiment during the crossing of the Irrawaddy - the regimental history states that ‘D’ Company came under heavy attack on that date, but managed to hold on to a position about two miles to the east of the Battalion. Indar Singh, a native of Abuwal, Ludhiana, was aged 31 years and is commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial.
