The Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, C.M.G., Companion’s breast badge, silver-gilt and enamel, with swivel ring and silver-gilt buckle on ribbon; East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, Benin 1897 (Medical Offr. Robert Allman was born on 11 September 1854, the son of Rev. William Allman, M.A., M.D. Qualifying as a L.R.C.S.I. and L.R.C.P.I., he was Principal Medical Officer in South Nigeria from 1891. He served as P.M.O. in the Cross River, Eket and Okrikar expeditions, 1895-96; the Benin expedition, 1897 (medal with clasp, mentioned in despatches and thanked by the Secretary of State); Oron, 1897 and Ekuri, 1897-98 expeditions (mentioned in despatches) Ubium and Ishan expeditions, 1899 and Aro expedition, 1901-02 (medal with clasp, mentioned in despatches). In 1901 Allman was a member of the Committee at the Colonial Office for the Reorganisation of the West African Medical Staff. In later life he lived at 2 Cowper Villas, Palmerston Park, Dublin. He died on 16 November 1917.
