Military Medal, G.V.R. (4357 Pte., 21/Aust. Inf.) good very fine £600-800
M.M. London Gazette 21 October 1918. Recommendation states: ‘Near Villers Bretonneux on the morning of 4th July, 1918, this man did excellent work as a sniper. He was a member of a section who captured an enemy M.G. and 2 prisoners. His sniping was most effective scoring 4 known hits. In face of heavy fire he took up a flank position and continued sniping whilst consolidation was being carried out. One of his comrades being wounded he carried him back under fire to a stretcher bearer party and returned to his position’.
