D.C.M. London Gazette 3 March 1917: ‘For conspicuous gallantry in action. He displayed great courage and skill in handling his machine-guns under very heavy fire. He set a splendid example throughout.’
One of only four D.C.Ms identified to the 2nd Rhodesia Regiment from a total of only 20 D.C.Ms to Rhodesian units during the Great War.
