Three: Private A. H. Woods, Suffolk Regiment, died as prisoner-of-war of the Japanese, 28 January 1945

1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45, unnamed as issued, extremely fine (3) £80-100

Private Arthur Henry Woods, 4th Battalion Suffolk Regiment, died as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese on 28 January 1945, aged 34 years. Captured at the fall of Singapore, he was transported to Formosa, possibly as forced labour in the copper mines. He died and was originally buried in Formosa, then in 1946 was reburied in Sai Wan War Cemetery, Hong Kong. Sold with named condolence slip, copied P.O.W. records and modern photograph of his headstone.
