Gunner Francis Barton, 3rd Battery, 6th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment, R.A., died as a prisoner-of-war of the Japanese, on 11 October 1943, aged 29 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery. He was the son of William and Florence Barton of Ashton-in-Makerfield, Lancashire and husband of Elizabeth Barton of Ashton-in-Makerfield. Sold with named condolence slip and card medal forwarding box addressed to ‘Mrs E. Roberts, c/o Mrs E. lloyd, 267 Old Rd., Ashton-in-Makerfield, nr. Wigan, Lancs.’
