Hong Kong Plague 1894, silver issue (Private, S.L.I.); Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Johannesburg (3896 Pte., 2nd Shropshire Lt. Infy.) edge bruising, contact marks, worn (2) £850-950

Private W. Buttle, Shropshire Light Infantry, served in the relief and cleasing operations associated with the outbreak of bubonic plague in Hong Kong during 1894. Serving with the 2nd Battalion S.L.I. in the Boer War, he was slightly wounded in action at Helvetia, 20 January 1901.
