Henry Crawford was born in the Parish of St. Oswald, Durham. A Farm Labourer by occupation, he attested for the Durham Light Infantry on 11 August 1888, aged 18 years 2 months. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 11 August 1895 on the expiry of his periof of Army service. Recalled to the colours in October 1899, he served in South Africa from 24 November 1899, being discharged after completing his period of service on 10 August 1901. Sold with copied service papers.
