Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Cape Colony, Rhodesia, Orange Free State, Transvaal (Lt. Sir A. Armstrong, Bt., 61 Co. 17/Imp. Yeo.) extremely fine £360-400

Andrew Harvey Armstrong was born on 23 May 1866, the eldest son of Rev. Sir E. F. Armstrong, 2nd Baronet of Gallen Priory, Ferbane, King’s County, Ireland. Succeeding his father to the title in 1899, he served in the Boer War as a Lieutenant in the 61st Company Imperial Yeomanry (South Irish Horse). He joined as a Temporary Captain in the 5th Service Battalion Connaught Rangers on 19 September 1914, having formerly been a Captain in the 3rd Leinster Regiment. In 1914 he was appointed High Sheriff of King’s County. He died in Aukland, New Zealand on 3 June 1922 and was succeeded in the title by his brother. Sold with some research and confirmation of clasps.
