Herbert Pilkington was born in Gorton, Manchester and enlisted at Manchester. He was killed in action in France and Flanders sometime between 10 and 13 March 1915, whilst serving with the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards and his name is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
