Jean Gough commenced pilot training in the Air Transport Auxiliary in late 1943 and served at No. 15 Ferry Pool at Hamble, Southampton until August 1945 - ‘I ended my service having flown 18 different types of aircraft and logged 420 hours as a 1st Pilot. This doesn’t seem a lot I know, but it was mostly flying fighter aircraft to and from M.Us and R.A.F. airfields in the southern half of England’ (copy of a letter written by her refers).
