A gold-plated half-hunter pocket watch presented to Major J. Hedges, M.B.E., M.C., D.C.M., late Rifle Brigade and Royal Tank Corps, by A. L. D. Dennison, the inner cover engraved, ‘Presented to R.S.M. F Hedges, M.B.E., M.C., D.C.M., by members of Sgts. Mess on Completion of Duty with 2nd Bn. R.T.C., 27-10-26’, the enamel dial-face cracked in places £100-150

Frank Hedges was awarded the D.C.M. for gallantry with the 1st Battalion, The Rifle Brigade at Ligny on 26 August 1914 (London Gazette 18 February 1915), and the M.C. as a Company Sergeant-Major for gallantry on several occasions in the same unit in the following year (London Gazette 27 July 1916). He was also awarded the M.S.M. as a Regimental Sergeant-Major in the 16th Battalion, Tank Corps (London Gazette 3 June 1919).

His Honours and Awards were sold in these Rooms on 4 December 2002 (Lot 63), when they formed part of the Michael Haines collection.
