The Royal Regiment of Artillery, a most rare and superb officer’s badge for the tarleton helmet c1793, a crowned circular strap ‘Royal Regt of Artillery’, with central domed disc mounted with a silver ‘GR’ cypher, this of early simple script format, as there is no evidence of fasteners the badge was probably unused, a small solder deposit at the rear to retain the central disc, otherwise in mint state £800-1000

This lot was sold as part of a special collection, The Collection of Artillery Insignia formed by the late Norman Litchfield.
