Hawkes, R.G.A.); British War and Victory Medals (10815 Sjt., R.A.); Army Long Service and Good Conduct, G.V.R., 1st issue, swivel suspension (10815 Sjt., R.A.); Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.VI.R., 2nd issue (1101080 Sjt., D.C.M., R.A.), mounted as worn, together with R.A. cap badge and Sergeant’s uniform stripes, one or two edge bruises and a little polished, about very fine or better (7) £600-700

D.C.M. London Gazette 11 March 1920:

‘For consistent gallantry and devotion to duty during active operations, especially between 8 August and 10 October 1918. During this period his example under heavy shell-fire has been of great value to his own detachment and the Battery as a whole.’
