Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 5 clasps, Relief of Kimberley, Paardeberg, Driefontein, Transvaal, Wittebergen (1620 Tr. F. C. Porter, 2 L-Gds.) some edge bruising, very worn £140-160

Francis Charles Porter was born in Clifton, near Bristol. A Decorator by occupation, he attested for the 2nd Battalion Life Guards on 12 January 1888, aged 18 years, 9 months. He served in South Africa from 29 November 1899 to 4 December 1900, and was discharged on 7 February 1901, on the termination of his first period of engagement. Only one squadron of the 2nd Life Guards served in the composite regiment of Household Troops in the Boer War. Clasps confirmed.
