John H. Bransfield first entered the French theatre of was as a Private in the 1st Battalion, Monmouthshire Regiment in early June 1915.

Also sold with a quantity of original documentation, including Shrewsbury Record Office forwarding cards for the recipient’s 1914-15 Star, dated 20 October 1921, and British War & Victory Medals, dated 4 March 1924; Christmas 1915 regimental card, with printed title from ‘3324 Rfn. H. Bransfield, ‘B’ Company, 1/1st Monmouthshire Rifles, B.E.F.’, and handwritten message ‘From Harry to Rose and Olive’, and another, for Christmas 1918, a 46th North Midland Division edition, with handwritten message ‘From Harry to Rose’ and with a picture of the St. Quentin Canal; and several wartime photographs.
