Military General Service 1793-1814, 2 clasps, Busaco, Fuentes D’Onor (T. Calloghan, Serjt., 88th Foot) minor edge bruising, good very fine £1200-1400

Terence Callaghan (Calloghan on medal) was born in the Parish of Aughmore, Co. Monaghan. A Weaver by occupation, he enlisted into the 88th Foot (Connaught Rangers) on 10 July 1807, aged 21 years. He served with the regiment in the Peninsular War until 24 March 1813, when he was transferred to the 13th Regiment of Veterans. He was discharged from the army on 10 April 1815, as a consequence of a ‘gunshot wound right hand, Spain’. Clasps confirmed. Sold with copied discharge papers and research.
