Edward Reynolds Sibley was appointed to the Madras Infantry in the season of 1832 and promoted to Lieutenant in January 1837. He was invalided on 7 May 1841 and, in May 1850, was appointed Adjutant on the Staff of the Infantry Company of European Veterans at Vizagapatam.
