British War Medal 1914-20 (L. F. Foster, Service wth the Royal Navy), with damaged card box of issue, extremely fine and a rare casualty £200-250

Lewis Frederick Foster, Mate of H.M. Tug Desire, Yard Craft at Chatham, was killed in action on 24 January 1918, aged 48 years. The husband of Edith Francis Foster of 148 Upper Luton Road, Chatham. His name is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial. Sold with Admiralty condolence slip addressed to Mrs Foster. The tug Desire was sunk by German submarine off the Yorkshire coast on 24 January 1918.
