British War Medal 1914-20 (Col. Sir T. Myles) extremely fine £60-80

Thomas Myles was born on 20 April 1857, and educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He was appointed House Surgeon at Steevan’s Hospital, 1881; Secretary to Dublin Hospitals Commission, 1885; Professor of Pathology, Royal College of Surgeons, 1889; granted M.D. Univ. Dub., Stip. Cond., 1888; President Royal College of Surgeons, 1900-02; Knight, cr. 1902; Examiner in Conjoint, Board of Royal Colleges for several years; Hon. Surgeon to the King in Ireland; Member of General Medical Council; Consulting Surgeon to H.M.’s Forces on outbreak of war, with temp. rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the R.A.M.C.; Colonel, 1917; Member of the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons; Consulting Surgeon to Richmond Hospital. Sir Thomas Myles was created C.B. (Military) in 1917, and died on 14 July 1937.
