Percy John Tye was born in Croydon, Surrey and enlisted into the Corps of Hussars of the Line on 5 November 1894. Posted to the 10th Hussars, he served in South Africa from 6 November 1899 to 10 January 1902. He was wounded at Rhenostar on 31 July 1900 (Casualty roll quotes initial as ‘G’). He was discharged to the Army Reserve and paid a war gratuity in September 1902 and discharged from the reserve in 1906. Sold with copied service papers.
