John Henry Wilmot was born on 23 February 1819, and qualified as B.A. in 1838, M.D. (date uncertain), and T.C.D. and M.R.C.S. in 1843. He was appointed Assistant Surgeon on the Bombay Medical Establishment on 3 January 1846, and served during the second Sikh war with 1st Company 4th Battalion Artillery at the siege and capture of Mooltan (Medal with clasp); also in Persia in 1856-57 (Medal with clasp), and during the Indian mutiny in 1857-58, in Central India (Medal with clasp). He became Surgeon in December 1862, and died at Ahmadabad on 6 April 1865.
