Indian Mutiny 1857-59, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Asst. Surgn. R. F. Andrews, 2nd Dragn. Gds.) very fine £350-400

Robert Fleetwood Andrews was born in King’s County on 21 March 1830, and was appointed Assistant Surgeon on the Medical Staff on 30 September 1853. He was appointed to the 1st Dragoon Guards in June 1855, and served with that regiment in the Crimea from August 1855, including the battle of Tchernaya and siege of Sebastopol (Medal and clasp, and Turkish medal). He transferred to the 2nd Dragoon Guards in June 1857, with whom he served during the Indian campaign of 1858-59, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, and actions at Koorsee and Nawabgunge, Trans-Gogra affairs at Bungaon (Medal and clasp). He becam Surgeon on the Staff in July 1862, was appointed to the 5th Lancers in May 1863, and retired in December 1873. He died at Ramsgate on 27 October 1894.
