Alexander Thomson was born in Dublin on 10 June 1833. He was appointed Assistant Surgeon on the Medical Staff on 13 June 1859, and is shown as being stationed in New Zealand from 1861 to 1866. He was appointed to the 22nd Foot in February 1868, became Surgeon Major in February 1875, and died in Jamaica on 29 August 1880.
