General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, S. Persia (9463 Pte. J. Jackson, Durh. L.I.) slight edge bruise, contact marks, nearly very fine £70-90

Private J. Jackson served in the Great War, entering the Asian theatre of war on 21 August 1915. Copied m.i.c. shows his 1914-15 Star trio was forfeited for desertion but later restored. It also confirms the award of the G.S.M. with clasp for S. Persia - scarce to regiment. Sold with a letter from the M.O.D. dated 6 March 1980 advising his grandson that a replacement ‘South Persia’ clasp could be purchased.
