South Africa, Transvaal Money Box, an unusual cast iron money box in the form of a squat caricatured figure of Paul Kruger wearing a green tail coat with deep red lapels and deep red trousers and characteristic green and red top hat, a pipe in his mouth, pierced at the top for the insertion of coins, approx. 6in high and 51/2in wide.(£60-80)

Inscribed on the back “By permission of the proprietors of the Westminster Gazette” and presumably based on a contemporary British cartoon lampooning Kruger.
