Germany, First World War, patriotic silver medal by Lewandowski, 1915, for the Polish Legion: Our Lady of Czestochowa, reverse soldier in antique dress tending wounded comrade, 50mm; another similar oval silver medal, signed Wilk., reverse eagle over monastery (cf. BDM VII, p. 353); other Polish medals of the same period in base metal (5, one a duplicate), including a portrait medal of Pilsudski [7]. Silver medals extremely fine, but both with dark and dull toning and first struck from rusty dies, others very fine but discoloured and beginning to corrode (£70-80)
