Victoria (1837-1901), Queen’s College, Birmingham, copper award medals (6), unsigned, all named (Cornelius W. Suckling), for Physiology, Anatomy, Therapeutics, etc, 1877-9, all 46mm; together with France, a late cast of an oval bronze medal of Henri IV, 1601, 95 x 75mm [7]. Fine to very fine (£60-80)

The Birmingham medals were acquired by the vendor in Beccles and the recipient is believed to have been a descendant of Capt Maurice Suckling (1726-88), who was responsible for the early training of Lord Nelson
