Important British Trade Tokens

Paisley, a Mexico, Charles IV, 8 Reales, 1797fm, obv. countermarked [c]orce[r pai]sley around uncertain mark of value, 26.81g (cf. Manville 85). Coin about fine and toned, countermark partly legible, of the highest rarity, no other specimen believed now extant (£500-1,000)

This new discovery confirms the present-day existance of a Spanish dollar with the Corcer countermark and, although the last letter of corcer isn’t clear, enough remains of it to be certain that the legend reads as originally stated by Julius Meili (Manville p.165)
