acquired recently in Argentina.

The full provenance for this coin given in Manville is incorrect. The Thistle Bank was founded by Sir Walter Maxwell Bt, and James Ritchie & Co in November 1761, and was capitalised at £7,000. Located at first in Bridgegate and then in Virginia street, it was absorbed by the Glasgow Union Bank in 1836
