James VI (1567-1625), Gold Halfcrown, mm. thistle-head, Scottish arms in first and fourth quarters, 1.22g/10h (SCBI 35, 1359, same dies; B 6, and fig. 992, same dies; S 5470). Possibly removed from a mount at some time and has been gilt, a little crimped, otherwise fine and clear, rare (£300-350)
