Germany, The First Flight of Z 127, 1928, a silver medal signed I.B., conjoined busts of Count Zeppelin and Dr Hugo Eckener left, reverse dirigible flying over water, LUFTSCHIFT, etc, 36mm (cf. Bonhams 12.ix.96, 85). Brilliant mint state, prooflike fields (£60-80)

Z 127, the Graf Zeppelin, was the most famous Zeppelin built. It measured 237 metres (777 ft) in length and boasted a top speed of 111kph (69mph). Her maiden flight was on 18 September 1928 and she was in regular service until after the Hindenburg disaster in 1937. The airship was scrapped in May 1940
