Union Nationale des Anciens Combattants Coloniaux, c.1930, a cast plated bronze plaque by G.J.P. Moreau-Vauthier, bust of General Marchand left, reverse roped anchor circling the globe, 68 x 59mm. About very fine, very rare; in fitted green case of issue (£30-40)

Gabriel Jean Paul Moreau-Vauthier, Parisian-born sculptor; his medallic work is very seldom seen. Jean-Baptiste Marchand (1863-1934), French soldier and explorer, best known for the part he played in the territorial disputes in Africa between Britain and France, which culminated in the Fashoda Incident in the Sudan on 18 Sept. 1898
