Auction Catalogue
Saint François d’Assise, c.1925, a uniface cast bronze plaque by E. Revillon after Chartron, for Arthus-Bertrand, two bullocks hauling a plough steered by St Francis of Assisi, birds in foreground, 149 x 80mm (Classens 158). About extremely fine, nicely patinated, very rare (£60-80)
An interesting study; the bullocks, with air wheezing from their nostrils, contrast with the harrowed look on the face of St Francis as he steers the plough over rough ground
