Royal Dublin Society, a silver award medal by J. Woodhouse, arms, rev. wreath, named (Model Farm, Ballymoney, First Prize, Mr P. Clune, Master, Winter Show 1874), 54mm. Virtually as struck and lightly toned; in original maroon fitted case of issue by Woodhouse, 8 Dawson street, Dublin (£50-70)

The National Board established a Model Farm at Ballymoney in the mid 1850s, with a resident agricultural instructor. Other similar farms were also set up at Glasnevin, co Dublin, and Cork. Unfortunately they were not taken much advantage of and that at Ballymoney was abandoned and sold c. 1885. Sold with further background information
