Lord Dudley Stuart Memorial, 1859, a copper medal by J.F.A. Bovy, bust right, rev. relief map of Polonia and her towns, edge named (The Right Hone. The Lord Stratford de Redcliffe, 1859), 63mm (BHM 2659; E 1530). Obverse with a couple of minor nicks, otherwise extremely fine (£40-60)

Stratford Canning, 1st Viscount Stratford de Redcliffe (1786-1880), diplomat and ambassador, first cousin of the prime minister George Canning, served in diplomatic missions, principally at Constantinople, but also in Switzerland, USA, Russia and Spain. He was directly involved in the crisis that led to the Crimean War
