Turkey, Hünkâr Iskelesi Medal 1833, 28mm., silver, pierced with ring suspension, nearly very fine £80-100

The medal was struck to commemorate the Treaty of Hünkâr Iskelesi with Russia in 1833. In essence this was a mutual defence treaty, however, a secret article obliged Turkey, if required, to close the Dardanelles to all foreign warships except those of Russia.
