Frank Gillingham was born in Poole, Dorset and enlisted at Dorchester. Serving with the 14th Battalion (West of England) Gloucestershire Regiment and attached to the 7th Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 12 April 1918, aged 19 years. He was the son of Mark and Mary Jane Gillingham of Porth House, Newton, Porthcawl, Glamorgan. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France.
