South Africa 1877-79
, 1 clasp, 1877-8-9 (A.B., H.M.S. Active); Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (Lg. Sean., H.M.S. Minotaur); India General Service 1854-95, 1 clasp, Burma 1885-7 (Capt. M. Top, H.M.S. Bacchante); Khedive’s Star 1882, contact marks and minor edge bruising, about very fine and better, and a rare combination of medals and clasps (4) £1200-1500

Only 124 “1877-8-9” clasps were awarded to R.N. and R.M. personnel, the majority of them to men from H.M.S. Active.

William Page was born at Burpham, Sussex in April 1858 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in September 1874. He subsequently witnessed active service aboard H.M.S.
Active in the South Africa operations of 1877-79, when he was landed with the Naval Brigade, off Egypt in 1882 when aboard the Minotaur, and again in the Burma operations of 1885-87, when he was once more landed for service with the Naval Brigade from the Bacchante. Page was pensioned ashore in April 1896.
